Sutton Soccer - Our History
Sutton Soccer has a strong and storied history of teaching total player success. Sutton Soccer first opened its doors back in 1991 with a revolutionary training facility in Denver , Colorado . In Denver , Sutton players reported measurable improvement within their first few sessions. More importantly, players were able to translate these skills into real game scenarios. Teams training at Sutton in Denver went on to win numerous championships. A youth Colorado team that trained consistently at Sutton won eight consecutive State Cup championships. Additionally, the first four Colorado girls teams ever to win a National Championship all trained at Sutton Soccer. Individuals that trained at Sutton's moved on to succeed at the highest levels of soccer, including playing at top Division 1 colleges and even at the professional level.
One
of these individuals was Dayna Smith . Dayna grew
up playing soccer in the Colorado youth scene, which included frequent
Sutton Soccer training. Dayna went on to captain the storied Santa
Clara University soccer team. While in college, she was a two-time
West Coast Conference All-Region player. After playing four years
with the Broncos, Dayna returned to Denver and was a dynamic trainer
at Sutton's. Dayna also played two seasons in the WUSA (the Women's
professional league), anchoring the Atlanta Beat defense. Dayna was
the only Beat player to play in all 23 games and she proved to be
an integral part of Atlanta reaching the Founder's Cup Championship
Game.
Another
prominent player that trained at Sutton's was Seth Trembly .
As a youth, Seth led his high school and club teams to numerous championships,
including a Colorado State High School Championship in 1997. Seth
was a member of the U17 national team, where he started and played
every minute of the CONCACAF qualifying tournament. By age 17 Seth
had already signed with the MLS to play on the Colorado Rapids. At
age 18 Seth played the full 90 minutes for the Rapids in a game against
the Los Angeles Galaxy, making him the youngest player in Rapids
history to start and play an entire game.
"Becoming a skillful soccer player does not happen overnight, but comes from a steady progression of improving on ones own current level of skill."
